Insole Warranty Classification

MASS4D® orthotics are produced from the highest quality materials, with special care taken in the manufacturing and design process to ensure that each product is able to deliver the most efficient corrective force to the patient’s foot.

A good orthotic needs to capture the foot in its corrected position, maintaining the highest medial arch possible and a full three-contact base involving the calcaneal, first and fifth metatarsophalangeal (MTP) joints.

The shell of the orthotic should comfortably contain the full calcaneus while providing for fat pad and soft tissue dispersion under weightbearing. The front portion of this shell needs to end proximally to the first MTP joint (roughly extending to 5mm from the joint), so as to avoid any restrictions in its range-of-movement.

In addition to this, the material of the orthotic needs to provide the appropriate level of rigidity and flexibility to facilitate functional pronation under weightbearing.

For a full-contact orthotic to be highly efficient, it is important to prevent a ‘collapse’ situation by ensuring that all specifications regarding body weight, flexibility and activity levels are as accurate as possible, at the time of manufacturing.

It is the sole responsibility of the fitting clinician to spot a ‘collapse’, as the patient might not be able to feel the difference on their own; hence, might be unaware that a problem even exists.

In the event of such an occurrence, further investigation would be required to establish the cause of error and to formulate a clear plan to prevent any such defects in the future.

The six-month comprehensive warranty on the orthotic shell, ensures that defective pieces will be either repaired or replaced, from the date the product is received.

The warranty, however, does not include any kind of misuse, abuse or damage to the product from the patient’s side.

The responsibility of the patient, in this regard, would be to use the product in the most prudent manner possible, in order to gain the maximum benefit from the orthotics for an extensive period of time.

As an example, the patient should never leave the orthotic in direct sunlight, or submerged in hot water for the purpose of cleaning or washing it.

In case of any intensive physical activity, the orthotic needs to be calibrated for the purpose of the activity itself with the addition of components, such as removable crepe fillers used in weightlifting.

Any critical information needs to be relayed to MASS4D® before manufacturing, so the product can provide for these and any other specific needs of the patient.
